Enlightened.thinker : Light-plerker What does independence mean to you?

What does independence mean to you?

Posted on Jul 4th, 2008 by Enlightened.thinker : Light-plerker Enlightened.thinker
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 04, 2008:

Freedom
Freedom of self expression, the abililty to be who one wishes without te judgement of others. Choosing a life and a mindset that is not dictated or indoctrinated by another.

Allowing ones self and the others in their life the ability of personal choice and the freedom to express themselves in ways that make them authentic.

Independence=freedom to BE, to DO, to CREATE, to CHOOSE and to know all is well upon their return.

Thank you thank you Aley for your words, I soo needed to read just that today;
I'm printing this out to magnet onto my fridge for encouragement. I recall that
piece you wrote earlier on judgement, read it several times & didn't manage
to produce an objective comment at the time..

Being judged by others hits close to home for me & I've had to do a lot of work
to move beyond the mindset dictated from my family & letting go of the need
for acceptance… Rather humbling to realize there is still work to be done tsk

Jordan said on my blog ' may we share in the true freedom of a generous heart'
which is what I read in yr words too. Being free to choose authencity, to feel &
express love & to keep one's heart open & forgiving no matter the circumstance,
that to me is the independence & freedom which is our birthright..

much love & appreciation to you for being you.. tara <3

I too enjoyed your interpretation.  You have such fluidness in your writings.
Be safe,

A lovely and loving piece, Aley.  I am glad you mentioned inter-dependence too which is a most important realization.

We need to find the Middle Road between fiercely independent and overly dependent.  And we need to get over seeking approval from others and feeling judged.  I finally understood this bit after reading The Four Agreements.

The #2 agreement ”DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY.  Nothing others do is because of you.  What others say or do is a projection of their own reality, their own dreams.  When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be victim of needless suffering.”

I like the little pictue you chose, too.  It evokes that solitude that we all need at times, no matter how connected to others we feel we are.  Happy thoughts to you this evening.
